چکیده
Here, M is the magnetization of an excited sample placed in a static magnetic field B0, γ is the gyromagnetic ratio, Mx, My, Mz are the components of magnetization in the x, y and z directions, M0 is the magnetization at thermal equilibrium, T1 and T2 are the longitudinal and transverse relaxation times and D is the diffusion coefficient. The first two terms of Equation 1 are the original Bloch Equation [4]. The third term of Equation 1 was added by Torrey. The solution to the Bloch-Torrey equation (Equation 1) for magnetization in the transverse plane ( Mxy = Mx + iMy ) following a 90◦ pulse is given by,

Riemann-Finsler geometry and its applications to diffusion magnetic resonance imaging
Riemannian geometry has become a popular mathematical framework for the analysis of diffusion tensor images (DTI) in diffusion weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DWMRI). If one declines from the a priori constraint to model local anisotropic diffusion in terms of a 6-degrees-of-freedom rank-2 DTI tensor, then Riemann-Finsler geometry appears to be the natural extension. As such it provides an...
متن کاملDifferentiation of Edematous, Tumoral and Normal Areas of Brain Using Diffusion Tensor and Neurite Orientation Dispersion and Density Imaging
Background: Presurigical planning for glioma tumor resection and radiotherapy treatment require proper delineation of tumoral and peritumoral areas of brain. Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is the most common mathematical model applied for diffusion weighted MRI data. Neurite orientation dispersion and density imaging (NODDI) is another mathematical model for DWI data modeling. Objective: We stud...
متن کاملStability and convergence of an implicit numerical method for the space and time fractional Bloch-Torrey equation.
Fractional-order dynamics in physics, particularly when applied to diffusion, leads to an extension of the concept of Brownian motion through a generalization of the Gaussian probability function to what is termed anomalous diffusion. As magnetic resonance imaging is applied with increasing temporal and spatial resolution, the spin dynamics is being examined more closely; such examinations exte...
متن کاملAnisotropic Anomalous Filter as a Tool for Decreasing Patient Exam Time in Diffusion Weighted Mri Protocols
Diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) are noisy submodalities images in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and usually have long acquisition time due to repetitions needed to improve the signal noise ratio (SNR). Here we propose and evaluate anisotropic anomalous diffusion (AAD) filter on DTI and DWI to enhance SNR and reduce the need for repetitions. Anisotropic ano...
متن کاملReconstruction of major fibers using 7T multi-shell Hybrid Diffusion Imaging in mice
Diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) can reveal the orientation of the underlying fiber populations in the brain. High angular resolution diffusion imaging (HARDI) is increasingly used to better resolve the orientation and mixing of fibers. Here, we assessed the added value of multi-shell q-space sampling on the reconstruction of major fibers using mathematical frameworks from q-ball imaging (QBI) ...
